It is with reluctance that I have opened up a GoFundMe account. The text of my account is printed below. While I fully anticipate that I will be able to become financially independent after the abrupt changes caused by my Mother's death in December, I'm still making the transition of becoming financially self-sustaining from my monthly Social Security Disability payments, as my only source of income.
I am somewhat troubled by what I would perceive as negative feedback from my account, less than 12 hours after the account was created. Someone apparently posted on another website, that they had cancer, and the last things they would be asking for help with would be car repair bills and dental work.
Ever since I was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, I have considered myself frugal and responsible with how my money is spent. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned, but I still consider cell phones and internet bills a luxury, and not a necessity. So it makes me wonder WHAT exactly would a person with cancer need help with, that would be any more important than transportation and medical needs?
I don't know if I will be successful or not at raising the $2,500 that I estimate that I'll need to pay for some of these expenses this year. But for anyone who reads this post, you can be sure that I will be responsible in how I spend the money. [Example: ] Yes, I do treat myself occasionally, and eat out at a restaurant. But all of my grocery shopping comes from scanning the weekly coupon sheets from the big stores, and NOT buying my groceries at the convenience store.
And, if you want to keep GoFundMe from taking their commission from any donation that you may want to make, you can always mail the donation directly to me at: Monte Muirhead, P.O. Box 3, Oakland, Oregon 97462.

"Monte's Living Expenses In 2016"
I was first diagnosed with cancer in 2012. Things have recently taken a turn for the worse, financially. Since my Mother passed away in December, I am having to re-adjust my living arrangements.I am currently terminally ill with stage four cancer. I need to pay some one-time expenses this year, expenses that my Social Security disability does not provide enough money for.
Specifically, I anticipate some car repairs and medical supplies to pay for in 2016. If enough money is raised, I also have $1,800 in dental work that needs to be done. One of the side effects of chemotherapy, is that it wears away the enamel of teeth, making them more vulnerable to cavities.
I appreciate all of the prayers, support, and assistance that people have already provided me!
