Birthday Diet

I won't be trick-or-treating for candy this Halloween.
I won't be attending a Thanksgiving dinner either, for that matter.
So many people have wished me a happy birthday this past week on Facebook, that today seems somewhat anti-climactic for me. Except, today marks a radical change in my life: I begin a naturopath diet.
My naturopathic doctor has said I need to eliminate sugar, fats, and oils from my diet. Cancer thrives and grows on sugar. Growth hormones found in some products, such as most store-bought chicken, can stimulate the growth of cancer cells. So, fruit juice is out...V-8 juice is in. White rice is out...brown rice is in.
I've already eliminated all carbonated beverages from my diet this past week...a worthy challenge considering my nearly daily consumption of Pepsi.
This is obviously a steep learning curve for me. But I've committed to maintaining a naturopathic diet for 90 days. One physician said it would be best for me go vegan, and eliminate all animal proteins from my diet. However, I am still going to consume some meats, such as grass-fed beef or hormone-free chicken. I need protein to help build up my muscles, and I don't feel comfortable depending on produce for all of my proteins, even though the physician said fruits vegetables provide more than enough protein to sustain one's health.
Before anyone dismisses my new diet as some wacky health fad, I've talked with several people who had cancer and went on a naturopathic diet. In some cases, their cancer tumors and other ailments went away! I don't have any false hopes and I'm not expecting my new diet to cure me from cancer. But I do expect the diet to have some positive effect on my medical treatments.
As my naturopathic doctor said, if the food item doesn't have a label on it, it's good for you. If the food item has a label, then it's bad for you. As I've recently learned, it's difficult to find something in the store that doesn't have "high fructose corn syrup" in it.
I do believe in miracles, so I'm optimistic about having a positive future. I just need to eliminate all toxins and "free radicals" in my body, in order to do it.
