Apple The Snake

Happy New Year From Apple The Snake!

I have to say that I am intrigued by colorful animals. But my interest in having a snake as a pet has been tempered by common sense. It seems like the brighter colored the snake, the more temperamental and dangerous they are.
Hence, my pet snake is NOT bright green, but is still a pretty blend of brown and brick red coloring. My pet snake is a red-tail boa constrictor named Jelani, which means "The Mighty One" in an African language. (Named after a cheetah at Wildlife Safari in Winston) Red-tail boas are more domesticated, or a calmer gentler breed, than the green python shown below.
Still, I can't help but admire the bright green snake, "Apple," a resident pet at the non-profit International Reptile Rescue based in Oregon. That is why I'm posting this New Year's greeting on my blog.
