KPIC-TV News Story On Upcoming Social

Numerous Facebook friends all shared the same link on my timeline, concerning a news story that KPIC-TV aired about a "get-together" for me at Dakota Street Pizza in Sutherlin on January 23, 2015. Because they were identical entries, I deleted from my Facebook timeline, but I'm re-posting their comments here, so that I'll have a way to remember all of the great friends that I have!

My dear friend Monte Muirhead... Stay strong! You are in my prayers always!

This is my cousin Monte Muirhead. He is going through some pretty tough times. His Mom, my Aunt Lucille just passed away last month. Monte was living with her so she could keep living at home and now this has hit him. He knows he is in God's hands and has great faith in the Lord. Praying for him is the best thing we can do. Thank you!

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Over the years, local resident Monte Muirhead has been the voice of many local communities.
Last summer the 49-year-old was stricken with stage 4 colon cancer.
He delivered the news as the 11 p.m. anchor on KPIC in the 1990s and also worked for stations in Medford, Coos Bay, Springfield and Eugene.
A celebration will be held for Monte on Saturday and the public is invited.
"The purpose is to say hi to Monte and to bring his spirits up," said Monte's childhood friend David Jay Hamilton.
"He was very familiar with the area and I know he took a lot of pride in serving this community in whatever role he was serving at the time," added former KPIC coworker Dan Bain.
The Douglas County native is well loved in the community; he ran for several public offices over the years including Douglas County Commissioner.
The celebration will be at Dakota Street Pizza Co. in Sutherlin at 6 p.m.

Monte Muirhead Just to clarify: I was diagnosed with stage three cancer August 1, 2012, three weeks before I received my Master's degree from the UO. I was "cancer-free" in February, 2014. But, in May, 2014, doctors found a stage four tumor has suddenly appeared on my bladder, and that is what I have been battling ever since.
Mary Esther Hart How awesome is this. Would love to attend but unable so I'll be there in spirit.
John Mercer That's really nice that they posted that story!
Monte Muirhead Is there anyone out there who could make/obtain a DVD copy for me, of the news story that aired on KPIC's 6:00p.m. news? I don't have the technical ability at home to make a copy. Thank you.
Mary Esther Hart Monte, if you call the station bet they'd dub a copy for you & be happy to do it.
That's what I do when a piece is run on us.

Pat Scarsella You are loved Monte, and what a great thing is that?????.
Mary Jackson Yes, Montel, you are loved, & still needed...keep the faith!!!
Julie Filarski How nice to have so many people that love you!
Billy Russo Is this the same time as the H.S. Reunion?
Monte Muirhead Yes, it is one and the same. What began as an informal get-together between high school classmates has morphed into a public event. I don't know if 0 or 50 people will show up, but hopefully, the 50-person meeting room at Dakota Street Pizza will be able to handle it. smile emoticon
Billy Russo Have a  time! We'll do lunch soon.

Sherry Bowers Vandehey Wow Monte - you are loved/cared for/respected by MANY in the community! What a wonderful way to honor you and your achievements
