My Mother, Lucille Muirhead, loved animals!
When my Mother was little girl over at Coquille, one of her new classmates from South Carolina had brought two baby alligators with her to Oregon, and she gave one to my Mom! Grandpa Holcomb was apparently as excited as my Mom was, because he went and built a special outdoor pen for my Mom's new pet. Unfortunately, the baby alligator died shortly afterwards.
International Reptile Rescue of Canby, Oregon does extensive recovery work of abandoned or abused reptiles, which is why I'm posting one of their updates (below) on my blog. The non-profit organization sure helped me out when I was in a bind, and needed someone to care for my pet red-tail boa constrictor for a month, while I was having surgery in Seattle.

First update is on the alligator we picked up a little over a week ago. Yeah, she's eating mice and has eaten several times now. It's a girl so named her Bubbles. She's so adorable and friendly; broke my own rule of not naming rescues.
